In October's issue, we focus on a two-part article from KMWorld about a study on the future of knowledge workers, and an article highlighting the 'rules' of the new economy. We also take a look at a snapshot of social media, and refer you to an article on the upcoming Gilbane conference in Boston.
This year, LR is participating in the Gilbane Boston conference in December, focusing on content, collaboration, and customers. Additionally, we invite you to listen to our most recent webinar series, "Faster, Cheaper, Better DITA" presented by Tom Voltz.

GilbaneGilbane Boston

In December, Joan Lasselle will travel to Boston to participate in the 6th Annual Gilbane Conference, Content Collaboration & Customers. This conference focuses on the business impact of content solutions ready to be implemented right now.

Joan's presentation will show how focusing on user needs combined with the use of a content maturity model can help provide a basis for continuous process improvement, help prioritize and focus projects, and provide the understanding needed to address a global audience. She will introduce Lasselle-Ramsay's Content Infrastructure Assessment (CIA) tool, based on the Content Maturity Model, that looks at goals in five key process areas: Content, customers, technology, process, and internal team.

WebinarsDITA Webinar Series

Part II of our Faster, Cheaper, Better DITA series aired live on October 13 at 11:00 PT. Tom Voltz presented a simplified example which demonstrated how to construct a DITA architecture for a documentation set. The example demonstrated how the right approach will simplify DITA authoring, managing, and publishing content. If you were unable to attend, the recorded version will be available soon.

Here's some initial feedback, one of many, from a participant in the webinar:

"Just a note of appreciation for today's DITA Webinar, which was one of the best I've seen. The content was eye opening and the presentation (graphic and spoken) lucid and compelling. I'm pretty familiar with DITA and with single-sourcing concepts and implementation models, so I rarely find Webinars on those subjects informative. Part I was also invaluable. Thanks!"
