Mobile technology leads the way to improved information access

The prevalence of smart phones, tablets, and Wi-Fi–enabled handheld devices has sparked the beginning of a revolution in performance support. These pocket-sized devices are giving employees the power to access information, whether they're at an airport, in a meeting, or on a sales call. And this new ability to access informationno matter what the locationis changing the face of performance support training.
Imagine the possibilities

Wireless communication allows employees the flexibility to see opportunities and provide an immediate response to customers.
- Medical technicians no longer need to carry heavy printed manuals
to operate equipment.
- Field technicians can get timely information at the customer
site, saving time and money.
- Salespeople stay up-to-date when time can make or break a deal.
Untether the workforce

Using mobile technology to provide performance support is best in situations where it is inconvenientor just not feasiblefor employees to sit down at a computer or take time away to attend a class. Learning is a process and not an event, and mobile delivery is particularly suited for reinforcement of that learning over time.
Lasselle-Ramsay is working with a variety of companies to design and deliver information strategies that enable employees to access information where they need it most. We work with companies to determine how to best create an information design and delivery plan that incorporates the performance needs of employees.
Nearly any type of content can be effectively delivered on a mobile devicefrom extensive reference manuals, to pricing sheets, to interactive tutorials complete with photorealistic 3D animations. Existing documentation, PowerPoint files, and animations can be easily and cost-effectively repurposed for delivery on a handheld device. The key to effective content presentation is the selection of the most appropriate delivery application for small-screen viewing. Using a single-source methodology, Lasselle-Ramsay is at the forefront of designing user-centered information systems that are published to print, HTML, and mobile formats.
Lasselle-Ramsay has evaluated and tested a large number of content translation tools for ease of conversion, file size, and usability, and has developed design and implementation strategies to assist companies in untethering their workforce from the classroom.
