SVDIGPresenting at Silicon Valley DITA Interest Group (SVDIG)
April 8, 2009

Training for the Transition - A Case Study in Preparing Cisco Writers to Adopt DITA
Lasselle-Ramsay recently completed a training project with Cisco to develop and deliver training to technical writers as they write to the DITA standard and use a new XML authoring tool. In April, we're collaborating with Cisco on a presentation for SVDIG. The presentation looks at the project to date and explores how requirements were defined and met, what successes and challanges the training team faced, and what lessons have been learned as the training program evolves and expands. The discussion will also focus on the range of issues writers face and what kind of training can help in th process of adopting DITA.
The speakers will be:
  • Katie Crick, Cisco project manager
  • Tim Bombosch, Lasselle-Ramsay project manager
  • Tom Idleman, Lasselle-Ramsay training developer

GilbaneGilbane Research Project

Lasselle-Ramsay is proud to be a co-sponsor of a research study with the Gilbane Group. The study, The Global Content Value Chain: Defining the Maturity Model for Product Content builds upon a prior research report on content globalization challenges. The Gilbane Group, http://gilbane.com, is an analyst firm that focuses on content technologies and their application to high-value business applications. This current research study takes a deep dive into multilingual product content, including technical documentation, pre- and post-sales marketing materials, online help, training curriculum, and customer support materials. The purpose of the study is to help adopters "get it right" by learning from best - and worst - practices, and by understanding which investments offer the best potential ROI for their companies today and tomorrow. Lasselle-Ramsay clients and members of our team will be interviewed as part of the study. The study is expected to be published in late spring 2009.
